Over ten years of operation we have seen many water alkalisers, ionizers and, their local sellers come and go.
Today more than ever, new makers are all making claims about performance, history and technical superiority.
We found Chanson to be a well established, solid company. Up until now they have concentrated on supporting a robust Taiwan customer base. They have their own retail outlets plus over 50 distributors with a healthy annual turnover and excellent R&D.
Second Criteria:
Performance.
In testing of the Kangen™ water alkaliser we found excellent ORP and pH, equal to semi-commercial Japanese models double the price.
Its seven plates translate into greater higher and lower end performance. This means it can also produce true super-oxide acid water with excellent bacteriological ability.
Third Criteria:
Maintenance.
After ten years of supporting thousands of Emco Tech Jupiter water ionizers we believe we are the best in the industry to comment on maintenance. The Kangen™ Ionizer carries a full 2 year all parts and labour warranty + free labour (more info). As a national distributor we are keenly aware of the need for minimal maintenance overhead. The Kangen™ is very well constructed and maintenance is simple 'swap over' component design.
Although it has a small footprint and occupies around 20% less bench space than other models, it is not overcrowded internally, meaning less challenging and faster repair turnaround.
Fourth Criteria:
Competitiveness.
There are so many systems on the market that a rather unreal situation has evolved. Buyers are being urged to choose from a bewildering array of comparative facts and figures including (in the main) ORP and pH performance.
This began with the arrival of the MLM (Multilevel Marketing) Enagic machine; a large, old style unit with high pH and low acid ability. MLM flourishes by massive market penetration but this is inevitably accompanied by relatively ill-educated face to face selling. Hence the trap of comparing ORP and pH became the way people were told they should evaluate ionizers.

Size:
Some ionizers are BIG. They occupy valuable real estate on kitchen benches which is traditionally the domain of the matriarch of the family. In this sense, smaller is definitely more beautiful.
Longevity:
Some systems on the market disguise poor technical performance and construction with glossy selling of all sorts of whiz bang add-ons, but poor technical performance is the hidden giant with some of the bigger names (not Emco Tech!)
Ease of Use:
Varying self-clean systems make a system easier or harder to use. Some self-clean systems cause serious problems when used in harder water areas. Some self-clean systems intrude on the user experience and confuse older or younger users. The Kangen™ 7 uses a simple periodic cleanse with audio and screen alert to ensure the user knows exactly what is happening.
'Normal' Use:
The quest for ever higher performance and add-ons comes, in our experience, at a price.
'Normal use' is daily home operation -getting water from the unit at around 8.5 to 9.5 pH. Extreme performance in some units has come from deliberately manipulating voltages which causes premature longevity problems. The design of the Kangen™ 7 Ionizer is recent; its basic model was released early this year, and in our opinion, the important relationship of plate size and voltage have been designed well.
Filtration:
There is no other ionizer on the market with a filter as good as the Kangen™.
In general, filters are the great unspoken aspect of some major brands. Poor quality carbon, excess silver, low life span of actual filtration performance.. all in all, filters, no matter what exotic addition may have been added, are rather basic. The AlkaWay Kangen™ 7 uses a filter all systems should have; a carbon block filter, with many hundreds of times more surface area than granulated carbon used in all other systems. An AlkaWay Kangen™ 7 ionizing filter is a better choice because:
